US-UK/Euro road conversions

To drive an American RV in the UK or Europe, you’ll need several modifications to make your vehicle road legal. The main ones include:

Exterior lights
• Separating the rear indicators from the brakes and converting them from red to amber
• Installing rear fog lights
• Installing white front side lamps
• Installing side repeater indicators
• Fitting a 7 pin tow sockets

Mains power conversions
American RVs and appliances work on 120V 60Hz systems, so some form of conversion to 230V 50Hz will be necessary to run your air conditioning unit, microwave, fridge etc. while in the UK and Europe on an electric hook up.

We can install a 230V circuit to the interior of your RV, so you can use your UK appliances, and then install one of our transformers with state of the art electronic switches (Built in-house) to use both 120V and 230V systems as necessary. In addition, to ensure your complete safety while the RV is in motion, we only use flexible cabling for circuits.

Although most American TVs do not to work on a 230V, some of the newer generation of flat screens can be adapted. However, if they do work on the higher voltage circuit, you may still not be able to get a picture, as UK and European terrestrial broadcast standard is PAL/Secam, not NTSC. We can advise you on the best method of ensuring you receive a good picture in your RV.

Please note: those appliances with an internal clocks, such as videos, DVD players and microwaves will run at different speeds on a 50Hz circuit.

MOT Preparation

Just like ordinary vehicles, Motorhomes need to have an MOT every year once they reach 3 years old to ensure compliance with road safety standards.
We’ll check over all the main areas likely to cause concern during an MOT such as:

• Lights
• Steering and suspension
• Brakes
• Seat belts
• General bodywork condition
• Tyres and wheels

Once your Motorhome is in good condition, we can take it for MOT and get it back to you once complete.
